The Adjustment Bureau
Dec. 8th, 2011 05:49 pmI feel like someone acquired a list of "Things That Will Intrigue Megan" and then acquired another list of "Things That Will Make Megan Hate Every one Of Them" and made a movie of it. That's really the best way to describe it.
There were also nice speeches about how Elise is completely irrelevant outside of how she affects David's life (because here, women literally do not exist gaze) and how only white people are important to world history. No really, long winded speeches about it.
Also, David spent three years obsessively hunting for a woman he spent perhaps 45 minutes with in 2 meetings a month apart. The movie thinks this is romantic. I think it's creepy.
Somehow, liking both Emily Blunt and Matt Damon (and Matt Damon in a hat) only increases the disappointment. Roger Sterling was fun though. Too bad he got booted for a less fun, way more mansplainy antagonist.
