Was I complaining about Aya and Rei not getting to do very much with the first disc? I may need to take that back.

(Honestly, I like Rei a lot and think he'll be a good boyfriend to Aya once he pulls his head out of...a place...but not only is he doing his best to prove my theory that at least half the guys in fiction don't deserve their girlfriends, but he is seriously begging to have a foot attached to his face. Hard. Perferably Ran's. She could do the most damage.)

To get the Aya/Rei stuff out of the way: You know, I love Aya, but I get why Rei gets annoyed. Aya's very passive and rarely asserts herself, and half the time, when she starts to, she chickens out, even if she's visibly upset and frustrated. I understand why you'd get frustrated if your significant other was always obviously wanting to say or do something else, but always just goes along with whatever you or her best friend says and never speaks up for herself. And I like that, instead of just being happy he has it easy with an obedient girlfriend, he wants her to be able to stand on her own feet, and stand up for herself. However, telling her that that annoys you and just taking off and expecting her to do all the work as far as getting the relationship past that point, and not contacting her, is not the way to do it.

Short version: I think Rei's right that Aya needs to stand up for herself more. I think he's being an ass about how he's doing it.

Then there's Katase. One the one hand, it's good that Rei's getting some competition. On the other hand, Katase is pretty blatantly being set up to be the seemingly better-choice-for-Aya nice guy and good boyfriend who really isn't nice, and is tricking Aya, to make us like Rei more when his true colors are shown and Rei "saves" Aya from him.

(The annoying part is that I know I'll swallow it hook, line and sinker when it happens, even knowing what they're doing...)

BUT ON TO THE REST!!!!

MAMI/YUUYA! It's absurd how well this works. Especially since Yuuya is still hung up on Ran. Really, I think being hung up on Ran is monstly habit for him at this point, though. He seems to be falling for Mami, but completely oblivious to it. And Mami has named her killer robotic guard dog-programmed to obey her every command-"Yuuya." Aside from the killer robotic guard dog part, there isn't much difference. Of course, the real deal saves her when the copy goes on a rampage.

Note: Yuuya, Yamato, Monkeyboy, and Super Junior Detective boy: All great boyfriends. Rei should take lessons.

I always love it when people think they're Ran's archrival. They're barely blips on her radar unless they cross her, or unless they're like Mami, and she decides they're her new BFF. Then there's no escape. The current wannabe super gal, though, tried to frame Sayo and stole from Aya and Miyu to blackmail Ran. Then she tried to steal Monkey Boy, and made him cry in the process. Honestly, I'm amazed he's still alive.

I lovelovelove Ran's excuses for why she's always late for class. Honestly, she could be a world famous writer if she applied herself.

And then THE ONSEN TRIP!!!

Ran and the Super Junior Kiddie Detective Trio in a town full of girls who idolize Ran. So perfect. Especially when you add in the SJKDT's beloved TV detective, on location for filming, and completely ignored in favor of Ran, but not about to let the SJKDT's fantasies be dashing once there's a mystery. And Sayo is oh-so-proud that her big sister is so famous.

So much love all around. Even if someone does need to be punched and/or kicked a few times.
