Every once in a while, I remember that, for all that this is mostly a light and funny and girly and girl!friendship power show, it certainly does like to pile on the angst from time to time.

The Aya/Katase thing worked out better than I expected it to, thankfully.  Sure, it went to the blatantly manipulative place of cutting from a scene of Katase telling Aya that he thinks her friends are a bad influence to a scene with Rei telling Aya he's happy for her(in Rei-speak) that the decision to date Katase was made on her own without any other influence.  Still, as soon as Katase started telling her not to see Ran anymore, she told him to stuff it, and that was that.  Good for her.

I'm glad that she's figured out what he was trying to tell her, but he was still an jerk in how he did it.  I want to say that I hope he'll be the one to make the first move for their getting back together, but I know he won't.

The symmetry in Aya/Rei and Ran/Katsuki, though, is becoming more and more obvious.  Let's face it, change Rei's gender and make him loud and high maintenance, and you pretty much have Ran.  It doesn't stand out as much that Monkey Boy puts all the effort into the relationship as it does with Aya, because they're so different, but the situation isn't much different.  Ran sucks at showing her feelings and being attentive just as much as Rei does, she can just be pushed into admitting it a lot easier than Rei can.

Honestly, I think Ran and Rei both are just so used to dating people just like them (read: people who aren't emotionally invested and who they can ditch with no problems) that they're clueless about what to do when they do like someone.

MEANWHILE!!!

Monkey Boy Jr. has now learned that Sayo and Matsuda are going out, and, after a brief mopefest, is now in love with Towa.  Honestly, the first woman to be nice to him  every time he finds out a girl has a boyfriend already...

RAN MAKING COOKIES!!!  And using Rei as her test subject.  I suspect that she wanted to make sure they weren't lethal.  Since Rei isn't currently dating Aya, it's ok if he dies.

BODY SWAPPING!!  Sayo and Ran swapping bodies and having to be each other for a day is almost the best thing ever.  Esp. with their trying so hard to not be found out.  Mind you, the Rei and Yuuya bodyswap at the end that ended with Mami dragging off Rei-in-Yuuya's-body while Yuuya goes "But Mami-rin...I'm right here..."  (oh Yuuya, you do like your Mami, you just haven't figured it out yet...) could have topped it(if only to see Rei rightly suffer a bit at Mami's beckoning) but it wasn't followed up on.

AND MINI!RAN!!!  Ran as a little one determined to be a super cop!  Who decides not to because she can't dress up!  Too good!  And Sayo is darling at any age.
