January talking meme: parasols

 January 24 - Favorite types of parasol, if any?( yifu )

 

This is the part where I confess that I know very little about parasols!  I made “Swords and Parasols” be the titl of my livejournal about 10 years ago when I was first really falling headfirst into both British period dramas and Chinese wuxia and xianxia dramas.  “Parasols” could be applied to both categories, and swords to one and sometimes the other.  Anyway, I liked it enough that I’ve kept it all these years, and it does remain reflective of my tastes in fiction. 

 

But I suppose my favorites are the Victorian-to-Edwardian ones that look like lethal weapons and sometimes get wielded as such by ladies in fiction.
