The middle chunk of this book featured a flashback detailing when Yarong and Batu first met.  I'm amazed to see that Batu apparently used to be an even BIGGER softie.  I'm not remotely surprised to see they sealed their friendship by beating each other up.  I wonder, though, if that was the entirety of Yarong and Genji's relationship, or if they knew each other for longer than that.  I got the impression from before that there was something of a long standing relationship of some sort there.  I also wonder exactly what Batu and Genji's relationship is.  The Dark Horse release refers to them as brother and sister, but I'm told scanslations don't hint at that.

I'm also starting to pay more attention to the "Yatilla looks like Yarong" bit.  I wasn't really before, but the Yarong in the flashbacks here looks almost EXACTLY like Yatilla.  And also like a more masculine Yaki.  Except that Yaki and Yatilla don't look alike.  I think it's the hair...Yarong in flashbacks has Yaki's hairstyle, but Yatilla's hairstyle, and coat, make him look a lot different.

But then in the "modern" story, we have all these things of awesomeness, such as Batu giving Yaki Yarong's sword so they can go off and kill the general for betraying Yarong.  I HIGHLY APPROVE OF THIS AND DID NOT SQUEAL AT ALL! HONEST!  Ande the picture of grown Yaki leaning against Batu to sleep while they both held their swords has to be the best image in this series yet.  But Yaki, sweetie, it doesn't look like you're wearing anything under your spiffy new breastplate.  Doesn't that chafe?

Meanwhile, Yatilla and Horakaan are running around for Aragorn.  I highly approve of this too, and hope the four meet up soon.  Yatilla also meets a proper young lady who seems smitten with him.  I fear for her.  He also seems quite interested in seeing grown up Yaki.  Probably can't believe she became captain of the assassin squad.  Horakaan also gets a chance to seriously strut his stuff, and makes a rather impressive angst!vengeance!speech.

We also learn(well, I don't think it's been mentioned before)  that the shaman's are the lowest possible caste.  This is interesting.

For some reason, I can't help but think all I should have said was:  Everyone was very badass.

Random thought:  Part of me wants to say that since the title character is female, shouldn't it be "Shaman Warrioress," but then I think about it and realize it doesn't sound so great.

Also:  Amazon, you show no Vol 7.  I disapprove of this.  Especially since I think I've had this volume for about a month, and I know the series is up to Vol 9 or so in Korea.  FIX THIS, DARK HORSE!!!
