Alas, the short tale of sweet, badass, cracktastic, occasionally crossdressing monkey love is already over. (But short is better than dragging it out forever, I suppose…)

It seems odd that the subject of Tamako’s father was suddenly brought up in the last volume, since it’d never been mentioned before. Since Meca Tanaka mentioned Serika and Mari having bigger roles after volume three, and Serika’s barely in the volume (ALAS!) and Mari’s only mentioned a bit, not to mention that it’s supposed to be a regular rumor that Iwao is her father, but that was never mentioned in volume three. That said…Tamako’s uncle introduced himself to her wearing a winged helmet straight out of a Gundam series. It’s like Meca Tanaka wondered what else s/he could sneak in at the last minute. And I swear, Tamako is like the extremely hyper hybrid of her mother and uncle.

Now for non-sensical exclamations: Octopus head kiss! Crossdressing supervillains and boybands! Kanji undercover as a fashion advice giving janitor to get his Tamako back! Significant bodily injury means true love! Or devoted manager! Here, it can be both and not be weird! Dirty minded parents! (They so approve!)

And I swear…the epic “OTP gets together scene” being in the hospital with the entire cast looking on? When he finally actually notices she, you know, has girl parts? Oh, Meca Tanaka…

And if we weren’t already pushing things by having the romance be between a 13(at the start) year old girl who looks like a 10 year old boy and a slightly perverted 16 year old fashion nut, you had to go and have your slightly perverted boyband superstar promise to marry and 8 year old when she grows up at the end. Meca Tanaka has no shame, does s/he?

Alas, we shall never know what happened with Idol Momoko and Thief Handsome…
