meganbmooreTomoe Gozen just showed up in Yoshitsune. Why her arrival surprised me, I don't know, as the years add up.
Tomoe Gozen is one of the few true female warrior samurai in Japanese history. She's also the basis for the character of Tomoe Ame in Usagi Yojimbo, and is a (relatively small) character in Samurai Deeper Kyo(and, once her true identity is revealed, portrayed rather accurately.) Amusingly, SDK is set shortly after the Battle of Sekigahara and the world of UY is based on the time period(Usagi himself is based on Miyamoto Musashi) a period over 400 years AFTER Tomoe Gozen lived and died...
