Wan Jiao'er in the first half seemed to know that Chengzhi loved Qing Qing and to value Qing Qing's friendship, and then suddenly, as soon as Qing Qing was kidnapped, she started trying to take her place and not think anyone would notice, which I thought definately cheapened the character. It was also irritating because it was obviously just driving home the fact that he'd lost Qing Qing, temporarily or otherwise, and hurting him. I think I feel worse for her senior that he was barely her backup choice (when he should have been her first choice) than I would have if she hadn't chosen him at all.
I don't know much about HSDS beyond the hero apparently being rather wishy washy about his feelings, but childhood friends/siblings is definately Xiao Hui and Chengzhi's relationship. I think she liked him a bit at first, but loved the guy she ended up with throughout. I actually really wish we'd seen more of them, as well as the general they were working with and his wife.
