Exactly. I love urban fantasy and most urban fantasy seems to have them as a requirement, so they're unavoidable, but more often than not, they annoyed me. When I do like them, it's because vampires as a whole aren't portrayed as tragic, romantic, misunderstood, etc. I mean,seriously, they look at us like lunch...what's the appeal?
