The events of this volume(and the flashbacks about to come) are what sent FMA from a "solid" book for me to almost the top of my list.

I remember being rather freaked out by Father's behavior towards Ed and Al when I first read the scanslations of this volume.  I mean, seriously...creepy.  And now that I kinda know the reason for it-and Father and Hohenheim's connection-from more recent chapters...well...it's still creepy.

More important, though, is Ling and his decision to become the new Greed(where did my Ling/Lan Fan icon go?  Oh well...)  I still have to wonder at his willingness for that to happen.  I mean, was he really stupid enough to just assume he could "save" himself once he had what he wanted, or does he have "something" that he thinks will let him get rid of Greed when the time comes?  He's arrogant, but not exactly an idiot, and he's certainly figured out by now that if Ed says something's wrong and out of his league, then it is...which makes me think Ling must have SOMETHING going on.  *brain resumes endless pondering on this matter*

That said:  I dislike May.  Intensely.  Seriously.  I often think about how Scar, Al or Armstrong could easily sit on and squish her.  They could almost just step on her.  I regret that Bradley's second attempt at making Al's insides all bloody failed.  And i highly disapprove ofanything that traumatizes Al.  I feel Al and Knox should have let May and Lan Fan go at each other.  One solid kick from Lan Fan and I'd be spared.  I suppose May is the price I must pay for an overall great female cast.
