Uhm...ok, I don't care that it's probably amazingly anachronistic, but Lucrezia managing to avoid sleeping with her skeevy husband for months has my utmost approval. As does her having a spine and standing up to him.
May I just say that I like Sancia? I have a feeling that she'll turn plotty and evil eventually, but right now she's rather fun and sassy. A nice balance to Lucrezia's role as our angstridden heroine. It's odd thinking of Sancia and Jofre being married, though. They act more like squabbling siblings.
Cesare spends most of his time plotting plotting plotting, but takes time out to consider offing Juan for being an incompetent wuss, moon over Chiaro, get Lucrezia a much needed divorce, reject Lucrezia, reject Sancia, take that one back, and find out his stepmother has been possesed by a demon. Cesare was busy.
I think Lucrezia was busier. Lets see...fend off and stand up to skeevy husband, go back to Rome, get a divorce(again: YAY!) work up the guts to confess to Cesare, get rejected, get BWAHAHA!-ed at by Sancia, get kidnapped by skeevy husband, get rescued from rape by Chiaro, and then get quasi-rejected by Chiaro(except, you know, that time she didn't really mean it...) I totally don't blame her for wanting to head to the convent for some downtime.
Major upside for Lucrezia: Got rescued by Chiaro and got to snuggle.
Chiaro basically mooned over Lucrezia, scratched his head over Cesare *draws Chiaro a "what's in Cesare's head" diagram*, and did some swordwork and a token Dramatic Rescue. He had it easy this volume.
Incidentally, I am convinced Cesare's other chief underling is in love with him.
Meanwhile, Mothman Monk is still cackling in the background, and I still get a kick out of Chiaro wearing a mask in public, but not when performing assassinations for Ceasre.
Yes, I am still mostly here for the crack and the pretty, dorky assassin.
