Slayers Try eps 1-5

meganbmooreAfter Season 2, everyone went their separate ways again(except Gourry and Lina, because the concept of not trailing after Lina is alien to him) until Prince Phil announces an expedition to explore the outer worlds. Zelgadis zips over, hoping for a way to become human again, Lina and Gourry are lured by a job offer, and Amelia is going along as an ambassador. They're joined this time around by Filia, a dragon priestess who looks like a pretty blonde but is really a gold dragon. Xellos is once again there for Reasons As Yet Unknown.
Amelia seems to have realized that no one will ever take her seriously as long as she's part of Lina's entourage and attempts to play it cool and distant. Sadly, she forgot who she's dealing with. Gourry continues to function as an excuse to provide exposition. Zelgadis attempts to be cool and distant, but like Amelia, he's forgotten who he's dealing with. Filia is so highstrung she makes Zelgadis look all calm and laid back. She's also amazingly proper, loves her tea, has a pink bow tied to her tail as a dragon, and keeps a giant mace(actually, I think this kind has a different name, but I forget it...) under her skirt. I like her.
Filia and Xellos appear to have some sort of a history together and they reduce each other to a pair of one-upping, squabbling five-year-olds. I think they used to date. Possibly, they're divorced.
Sorcery as the Slayers-verse knows it is apparently very uncommon in the Outer Worlds, so everywhere they go, they're either taken for angels or evil demons. Zelgadis loves the evil demons part. Amelia loves the angels part. Lina and Gourry just want food. Filia sobs and wishes they'd focus. Xellos enjoys the entertainment. Sylphiel has also had a name dropping, so I'm on the lookout. Zelgadis also worked in a "Will you two just get it out of your system already!" jibe for Lina and Gourry. Of course, Gourry is too stupid to notice and he included "flat-chested" in there, so Lina got ditracted by that. There's also a servant of Gaav, the Demon Dragon King from season 2, who claims to be as powerful as Gaav, and that Gourry's Sword of Light is really his. I doubt that will go over well. Lina has claims of that thing.
Lina's sister also got mentioned again, resulting in an amazingly overwhelming panic attack on Lina's part. I am very depressed that the opening credits claim she won't show up.
Also, a thing that has been bugging me since early the first reason: Zelgadis's hair is razor sharp wires. In can cut through cannonballs and impale tables. How, then, does he wear that hood? Shouldn't his hair slice right through it? Is it made of something special? What? How? Why? Or should this be dumped in the "Sanzo and credit cards and newspapers" folder of "try to figure it out and your head will hurt and you won't be able to focus" things?
