And it's very novel in the fact that the society she creates is open sexually--m/m m/f/m m/f etc. All sorts of slashy content. At first it does seem like she sleeps her way to power, but it's not about that in a way. Her strength is definitely her mind, and there's not denying that throughout the book.
Anyway, I'm not trying to push it on you. No big thing. I would just be curious to see your take on it, because I have read what you've said about other books and movies, and I agree with most of it.
And also, have you read Jim Butcher's Calderon series? Some interesting female characters in that. Although, some of them are very...irritating.
