 Someone explain to me, please, why I have spent 2 1/2 hours telling Amazon I own books/DVDs, am not interested in books/DVDs and do not want recommendations based on things I have bought in the past, yet the "recommendations" page is still 90% things I have never heard of, and doubt I'd ever be interested in.

You've only realised that now? The recommendations page was only useful to me until around 2005 and then it repeated books they'd already sold me. What DOES occasionally work still is the "people who bought this book also bought these books" thing.

Oh, I've always known it was useless. I'm just trying to filter things out so that the tuff that shows up in my gold box is stuff I might actually buy one day.

I spent about that long working on my Amazon rec page after your earlier post inspired me . . . I actually checked out the books they mentioned, figuring that I may as well read the summaries if they really thought I'd like them . . . I went from about 160 to 88 on the list.

Ah okay, Amazon.de may have finally adopted the much to busy US layout, but we haven't got the Goldbox yet as a feature, so it's useless to do that.
