I choose to believe Ranmaru and Saya's relationship is purely innocent. (Really, in the manga at least, there's no indication that there's anything going on...his reactions are normal for the situation, and there's nothing really to support the teasing. It's just some extremely unfortnate and ill considered fanservice.)
