Solid from beginning to end. I’m surprised there wasn’t a higher death toll, but not complaining.
Chunks of the ending-particularly involving Luc’s goals and motives-seemed to rely somewhat on being familiar with the other Suikoden games, but not so much so that I was lost. I’m assuming the fate of the Wind Rune is the subject of another Suikoden game, as Chris, Geddoe, Sasarai and Hugo have the rest.
Not sure what I think of the final reveals about Luc. A little close to “I tried to destroy the world to save it, but I’m really just an angsty woobie” for my tastes. Just let them be trying to save the world in the worst possible way and realize they were wrong.
I love how Caesar remained hung up on what it truly means to be a tactician and his war with Albert to the very end. I might fear for the world if he ever has to look for another opponent.
I think we needed more of Hugo and Chris having to act out Romeo and Juliet for the festival. If only to see reactions from the entire cast to the required kiss.
Also, why do water powers always also result in healing powers in fantasy?
