Yeah, I've seen that too, and I've seen the sentiment combined with "Slash is feminist" arguments. Really, as the section of fandom that writes fanfic is mostly female, the argument should be "fanfic is feminist." (Which I don't agree with, either, but I think that what makes it not work is that the argument says "only this part of this thing can have this title, the rest can't.")
