Can one spoil an epic? (Well, yes, you can, as I don't want spoilers!)

I am now on ep 4 of 90 or so, with the consequence (possibly the first of many?) of Bhishma's TERRIBLE OATH!

Said oath being that, so his father Santanu can marry Satyavati ~~who spent a little too much time going on about how her beauty causes trouble~~ Bhishma swears to be celibate his entire life so that he can never have kids who could eventually challenge Santanu and Satyavati's children for the throne.

Which, really, strikes me as a bit extreme. There's always illegitimate kids, flings, men, women too old to have kids...So many options that don't involve eternal celibacy!

ANYWAY!

That is not the "Wow!" part. The "Wow!" part is that his kid swearing celibacy so he can have sex with a woman younger than his kid caused Santanu to literally angst and guilt himself to death over it.

Which would be utterly amazing if it weren't for the entire episode being devoted to angst over Bhishma's celibacy.

Also, there is a need for more of Ganga.
