Ah, back to humor and angst mixed together. Much better than the nonstop angstfest of the last couple volumes.
Though, honestly, I’m a bit confused by there being another volume. There doesn’t really seem to be much else to do. The curse is broken, Akito has dealt with things and most characters have worked out their issues, and the 50,000 or so couples are together. Having more almost seems gratuitous.
I am evil, and so everyone torturing Kyo and not letting him see Tohru was my favorite part of the volume. Not to mention the idea of Hana and Shishou as friends freaking him out. And while I’m not entirely certain I understand why Tohru was running from him, it cracked me up.
I’m not sure I’ll ever like Akito at all, but I do appreciate her character growth throughout, and wish we’d seen more of her and Tohru after Tohru fell. And I love that even she gets freaked out by Hana.
The scenes of all the zodiac members realizing the curse was broken were excellent, though, aside from Kyo and Tohru, I think my favorite was Aya (he and Mine were such a cute but odd pairing) and Hari and Rin, because Haru thinks it’s kind of depressing. Which, you know, actually makes a good deal of sense.
