meganbmoore: (no dating undead monster serial killers)

Six of the last eight books I have read (though I'm still a bit off from proper posts on any of them) have featured one of or a combination of the following:

1)  During the course of the book, a major female character is raped.
2)  During the course of the book, someone attempts to rape a major female character.
3)  A major female character's angsty backstory is rape.

Now these have, in terms of handling, ranged from "WTF SERIOUSLY?" to directly confronting the issue in a certain type of fiction or tradition, but that does not change the fact that six of the last eight books I've read have featured rape as a major theme.  I was only braced for it with one.

I cannot be held accountable for the results should this trend continue.

*sigh*

I can't even work up a good sarcastic "But Megan, don't you know..." something, because it's just *all* *the* *time*.
