I sincerely hope that the normal reaction to large chunks of this part is “I have no idea what is going on, but it is awesome and so I do not care!” I’d hate to be alone in that.
Aww, Anderson raised Maxwell and the hitwomen. That’s surprisingly sweet. I want wee!psychos flashbacks. Except all but one are dead now.
I continue to be amazed at how effectively “Master! Tell me what to do! Will you tell me to slaughter them all?” “Kill them all!” reads like declarations of love. Or at least, one declaration and an acknowledgement. Or something. Truly bizarre. At least I know I’m not the only one who gets that out of the scenes!
On the flipside, I am amazingly unsurprised that Walter is a traitor. Though I feel I should be. And, uhm, I think I’m missing out on stuff in his fight with Alucard from not having read the spinoff about them in WWII. And I had to stop reading for a bit to laugh when Alucard’s reaction to the betrayal, after thinking a bit was pretty much “HA HA! The girls are all mine now! Not more sharing!”
I’m also amused by how Alucard had his version of hissy fits at Walter and Anderson not fighting him as humans. It’s an interesting take on the typical shounen “I must get stronger to beat him!” approach to power. I wonder what Alucard thinks about shounen.
Meanwhile, just as I was starting to go “Ok, Integra needs to start killing things again. She’s been standing to the side and giving orders for too long!” she and Seras took off to take over the blimp. And Seras has Pip’s ghost in her head? That’s sweet, as long as he’s her personal cheerleader, instead of “ZOMG! The strength she needs to win!” *glares sternly at slight threat*
And now to wait for Dark Horse to get around to publishing the final volume.
