Ok, I liked this a lot more than I did most of season 4!

Uhm…it’s amazing how much better John and Aeryn being in character makes the show? Like, I’m still annoyed by season 4, but it redeemed the show itself for me a lot, and after the first bit, I was back to not being annoyed by how it was all about John. Probably because characters started feeling important outside of how they related to him again. There were some things that bugged me, but they were carryovers from my annoyance with season 4, and likely wouldn’t have bugged me in the first three seasons.

However, this show? Is clearly prejudiced against redheads! It killed all three! (Also, I multiship Chiana with all three…) Though, there were no bodies, and as I’ve been reading superhero comics since I was 12 and spent a few of my teen years watching soaps, I can easily and shamelessly fanwank this as “No bodies means no deaths!”

Branching from that, though, I wasn’t really thrilled with what they did with Sikozu, or her makeover. (Also, Jool, honey, that was an AWFUL makeover you had. I’m just saying.) But Sikozu’s entire personality seemed to change throughout most of it, and she wasn’t as fun for me without her superiority complex. And her look was too goth for me. (Though, the haircut amused me, as haircuts are often symbolic of being dumped, and I like to think she only had sex with Scorpius to get revenge on Chiana for having sex with D.)

The baby being in Rygel was wrong. Very very wrong. Also, one of my interests in Farscape was that I heard “not every pregnant woman can be Aeryn Sun” a lot in fandom discussions when it came to heroines being pregnant, which made me think that it dealt with a woman dealing with all the complications of a pregnancy while shooting things, as opposed to most of the pregnancy being while it was in stasis, or in someone else. (While I facepalm a lot at the science involved in the pregnancy, this isn’t so much a disappointment in the show as it is disappointment based on what I’d assumed from discussions.) That said, the entire labor cracked me up, especially since shooting comforted her. And the baby didn’t cry! Like, I’d be incredibly worried? But then, his mother was teaching him all about guns before he was born. I suppose he was born with keen survival instincts.

As a tangent on that, while we were watching, prozacpark and I were talking about how, in canon, epic and romantic pairings (and heroes) who have a child almost always have a son, to either carry on the legacy or “give” the spoils of victory to almost always have a son, but in fanfic, is a couple is given a child, it’s usually a daughter, or so it seems (come to think of it, the few times I’ve had a slash fanfic described to me where they adopt a kid, it’s been a girl, too). And I don’t want to get into “x type of fanfic is/isn’t feminist” but somehow, that does more for me in “fanfic can be feminist” than any other argument I’ve seen has.

Also, I have to say, if she weren’t a rapist, I’d totally love Grayza. And while I know she was pregnant because the actress was and it no doubt makes me a fandom pariah, I totally hope that was John’s baby. Not-so-secret “Siblings! Raised as enemies!” kink overpowering all else? What makes you say that? Also, John did say three was the magic number with kids, and that would give him three…

More shallowly: This mini was pure spaceship porn. Seriously. Also, Jothee now looks older than D’Argo, which is strange. Also way more luxen than he did before.

But the final scene!  So corny!  (In an entertaining way.)  I can't believe they actually went to "The universe is your playground!"  It really needed to have "The Circle of Life" playing in the background.
