meganbmoore: (attack of the backlog)

Finally finished going through all the books I got at the booksale, as well as updating the backlog. Due to my steadily increasing appreciation for reporting on Amazingly Bad Fiction (I blame Dollhouse for this. I blame it for a lot of things.) I’m afraid I was even more indiscriminate than I usually am. If you are unfamiliar with me and charity booksales, I tend to grab anything that vaguely looks like something I might try out in the future, and read perhaps half of them. The list also includes a bunch of other things acquired deliberately. I’ll let you decide which is which.

*Acquired for reread. (Many of these I used to own at some point. Various Victoria Holt’s should have the asterisk too, but I’m not sure which.)
**This is, indeed, the author of the Abducted Nun book.
***I stopped reading her ages ago but am told she got decent again. We’ll see.
****This has the potential to be the Awesomely Bad Romance Novel of Awesomely Bad Romance Novels.
*****Though, I got the first 3 books at last year’s booksale, and haven’t even thought about reading them.

A couple other notes:

1.  A lot of Harlequin Historical romances in there.  I'm trying to remember what I thought of the ones I read in college, but mostly drawing a blank, aside from the names of a couple authors I enjoyed.
2.  Having now read two of her historical fiction/mystery novels, I'm very curious about Roberta Gellis's better-know historical romances, but rather nervous, as they's Old Skool, and tend to be mentioned in the same conversations as Bertrice Small's "Skye O'Malley" (Hate!  So much hate!  This, incidentally, is the series where she flatout calls f/f sickening, and portrays f/f rape as infinitely worse than m/f rape.  That's only a bit of the hate, though.)  books, though not actually compared to them.
