stuff I've been reading

New batch of comics came yesterday(will post the list later), so I figured that I should post about the few comics I've managed to get read the last couple of weeks.
I've been very distracted by David Gemmell's Rigante books(on the second half of the last one, now) along with finally beating Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening plus starting The Adventures of Link(going very slowly, as we can't have gameboys anymore at work)
note: LJ seems to have changed up the cut text bit, hope this works...
And so...
Decoy: Menagerie Vol 1: A fun little collection, though I'm not sure a few of the creators have actually read the series as Bobby would, you know, die, if Decoy hopped to someone else, as happened twice. Still, there were some very good bits...I'm particularly fond of Bobby's version of film Noir. It sounds like this is the new format for the series, at least for now. I'd rather have a new Counrtney Huddleston mini, but this will do.
Showcase Presents: Jonah Hex Vol 1: A good way to get the icky taste from Quesada's Rawhide Kid comments out of my mouth(insert more hatred and balefire in that regard) Excellent book. I'm actually surprised that they toned Hex down for the current series. First half of the Hex stories were standalones with a bit of dark humor, second half was about his past. Good stuff(better than most of what's out today) but I liked the first half, better. Also, the last 100~ pages were about 2 other(apparently short lived) DC western heroes. I really, really hope DC follows this up with another...and a Bat Lash book.
Soulfire HC: I fell into a time warp and got a Crossgen book...Great art, Really cool concept, strong first few issues...story fizzles and doesn't go annywhere...still, I shall hold out hope.
Manga:
Ouran High Host Club, vol 3-4: Much as I loved the first two books, these two just kinda fizzled and fell flat. Primarily, Ithink, because there's no relationship or storyline to carry it through, but manic activity. Still, I'll give it at least one more book.
Tarot Cafe, vol 3-4: Conversely, I wasn't sure about the first book of this one, liked the second better, then loved these last two. Really interesting concept, and interesting takes on classic fables and myths. Unfortunately, it sounds like Tokyopop are being their usual evil selves and not publishing the last book, even though book 4 ends in the middle of a storyline.
