Spoiler for I think ep 1.12 (or so) of Vampire Diaries under cut.
Dear Writers,
A few comments:
1. I feel that any episode in which your male quest star has more screen time, more fight scenes, more plot, and more gunpr0n than Maggie Q is an episode in which you fail to realize why aproximately 80% of your viewers watch your show.
2. It is entirely possible that you wasted Biance Lawson even more than Vampire Diaries wasted Gina Torres. Actually, I know you did. Because, while I found the resolution of Bree's single episode plotline to be deeply offensive and and the moment when that show ceased to view Damon's actions in any realistic way whatsoever and stopped taking his actions seriously and treating them appropriately at all, Bree, at least, had agency, history, motives, and a place in the world outside of Damon, whereas Emily (oh, what ironic naming...) was denied any role outside of whatshisname's virtuous girlfriend who was destined to be fridged. (Mind you, I may think Vampire Diaries underused Bianca Lawson too, but I tend to think that show should be "The Bonnie Chronicles," or "The Bennett Files," or "The Bennet Witches," or "The Bennetts of Mystic Falls," so I may not be entirely reliable there...)
3. We have not been pleased that you have been treating Jaden exclusively as Alex's meanie antagonist. We are even more displeased that she is being reduced to the unwanted third wheel in an Alex/otherwhatshisface/Jaden triangle. Does the word "frenemies" mean nothing to you?
4. No Melinda Clarke? For shame.
5. I sincerely hope that you had Birkoff attempt to frame a trainee to make us hate him, because now I do.
6. I have no idea what to make of that ending. Given the rest of the episode, I am not comforted by this.
Machine Guns and Throwing Knives,
A fan who shall try to forget this episode happened.
