meganbmooreOk, I give up. I’ll just…be an emo 13 year old over in a corner, madly shipping Caroline/Tyler and thinking about things like friends turned genetic enemies and cellars and chains. This reminds me that I haven’t checked out the latest Kaori Yuki manga yet. Even if I’m not sure I actually like him yet.
Anyway! I was pretty sure going in that this episode was kind of…going to be a “make it or break it” episode for me? Two of the three things I was worried about didn’t happen, but it looks like one is going to.
For the record, the 3 things were:
1. Damon/Elena scenes pushing the pairing and trying to justify his actions.
2. Caroline getting bitten/fridged.
3. Rose being brought back just to be bitten/fridged.
The bad:
1. Rose! I told you to stay away for your own good! SIGH! Now you’re going to get fridged! For stupid Damon!
2. The spell to trap Elena in the house. That even made me mad at Bonnie, and even channeling Luka without his permission last week didn’t accomplish that!I feel very strongly that that wouldn’t have happened if Stefan had been around. And I’m more bugged that Elena’s brother and potential/probable-future-uncle ok-ed that than Bonnie and Damon’s involvement.
Related to those, though:
1. Rose’s “I don’t love men in love with other women” may have actually been the most textual slam against Damon in the show? And I like her disdain for the general obsession with Elena.
2. I like that the (incredibly stupid) house arrest plan backfired almost immediately, and resulted in Elena being the one to save people.
Otherwise:
1. I’m very glad they addressed Bonnie channeling Luka without his permission almost immediately.Too bad someone else’s much worse and far more frequent violations never get addressed in any meaningful way. I love Bonnie’s witchy glee but dislike how Luka’s just using her so far, especially since I dislike how they’re pushing Bonnie/Jeremy.
2. Uhm…I liked Jules at first just based on the promise of her hating Damon? But now I love her because of her immediately pwning him.
3. Does anyone else just get a squicky feeling at the Damon and Alaric buddy scenes? Every time we have one of those, I remember Damon taunting Alaric with killing/having sex with/turning Alaric’s wife, and then murdering him.
4. Isabel! Are they bringing her back? (Also, I love that she’s apparently the only person in 5 centuries who was apparently actually able to find Katherine and make contact with her? Unless Anna did, though it’s possible that Katherine maintained that contact.
5. I…I think I actually like Elijah? I mean now that he isn’t just a mindless flunky as implied in his first ep. He’s fun as an antagonist the way Damon was for me I the first half of season 1, but unlike Damon, I’m actually kind of curious about him, and kind of enjoy him as a character? I really just want him and Katherine to be evil vampires duking it out over who gets to be in charge. Also, I think this is the first time we heard his real accent? I wonder why he and Klaus don’t get along? I want it to involve Meredith!Actually, I just want Meredith.
6. The last Caroline/Tyler and Elena/Stefan scenes were just so…so…teen fanservicey. I love you show. (Also, so much chains and cellar fanservice. Did you feel it had been too long since Strung Up Shirtless Tortured Stefan?)
7. Oh, and Tyler. Stop watching that video. It’s bad for you.
8. Poor Katherine, you just got your pet, and that mean Elijah took it away and wouldn’t even let you come out to play! Also, I feel Damon should have included books in his care package. I mean, I’m pretty sure they both would have appreciated it. Actually I’m really tired that Katherine keeps getting conquered/beat/punished while Damon barely gets slapped on the wrist.
Uhm…how long is the hiatus, again?

Date: 2010-12-11 03:20 am (UTC)I still love Bonnie best, even though the plan to lock up Elena was awful. I still think Jenna is being dicked over more than anyone else. Someone please talk to this lady.
Tyler has grown on me infinitely and I feel better about Luka and his Dad mow that I feel better about Elijah. Rose had better not actually die, I'm feeling somewhat mollified that people care she's dying and are looking for solutions, normally guest stars just drop off like flies without anyone caring.

I still don't quite like Tyler, but I like his plot and his relationship with Caroline, though i'm very worried about that. I really hope they find a way to save Rose. I'm attached to her, though I realize a lot of it is the actress. I'm worried, though, that they'll make it be all about Damon's angst, and I really really hope we don't get another case of a Salvatore killing her to save Elena.
