Covert Affairs 2.1-2.7

You know, the reason I watch this show (ok, one of the reasons) is that, aside from the pilot, the show’s idea of Annie needing to be rescued is Augie giving her info and/or Jai showing up with a motorcycle or helicopter after she’s spent the entire episode saving herself. More shows should be like this. Maybe a bit better written though.

Also, I like that Annie gets progressively better and better, but not unnaturally so or to the point where she’s super spy. (I like her getting by because she’s smart and thinks on her feet as opposed to always hitting her way out or whatever like most spy shows seem to do. Not that I object to the fight scenes.)

I like Riva a lot, but miss Liza. EV better be all over the place in the second season of Lost Girl.

Joan on jury duty was a hoot, though I’m surprised she lasted that long.

Show, please give Jai things to do. No wonder he was off in Berlin at a job interview, that episode was the first time he did anything besides plant bugs this season. I want him and Annie going on missions a lot again. (Though, Joan certainly has his number.)

I was going to say “thank you for sending Ben away and not mentioning him since 2.1” but then he was in the previews for next week. Alas. I’ll have to let a few episodes build up so that I have Ben-less episodes again. Though, really show, if you must have Annie in love with a mystery spy who’s rarely around, may I suggest Eyal? A) Way more interesting character. B) Way hotter. (I am annoyed by Ben but have no quibbles with his actor. But he is not ODED FEHR.) C) There’s actual chemistry with Annie. (IMO, Annie and Ben have no chemistry. Annie has decent chemistry with Augie and Jai, but way more with Eyal. For that matter, Annie/FBI Agent Whose Name I Just Forgot would be a step up from Annie/Ben.)

I didn’t particularly need the episode about Augie’s angst past. He already had one of those last season. Not that I object to Augie or anything (though he actually is my least favorite of the 5 mains) but I’m not supposed to have manpain episodes in this show.
