Lost Girl 2.1-2.4

1.  I'm pretty sure I used to like Dyson.  Like, back in the first half of season 1, before the show decided that whether or not the straight white guy who wants to control her wanted to have sex with her that week always had to be the focus.  And before he decided the fact that her being a succubus who never indicated that monogamy* was her plan was an inconvenient habit she should get over or whatever.  Now he comes on screen and i'm all "Dyson, why are you having scenes with characters I still like?  (Which is almost everyone else.)

2.  On the flipside, there's lots more Lauren and Hale so far this season.

3.  I'm sideeying the Ash storyline pretty hard.  Especially with how the current status came to be in 2.2.

4.  This show and it's ideas about consent make me very uncomfortable at times (actually, probably at least once an episode) yet don't set me off the way other shows do.

5.  I watch for the plot.  And by "plot" I mean Lauren being sciencey, Kenzi being lippy, and Bo waiving weapons around and knowing how to use them,  (Though I kinda wonder when she became so proficient with various bladed weapons.) and hopes that we'll get more actual mythology and history mixed with the actual variety of fae races.

*I actually suspect Bo will eventually be ok with a monogamous relationship as long as it's a partner who can handle her literal needs, but right now she's a succubus who only figured out how to have sex with people without killing them to stay alive herself a few months ago.

I'm disliking how long it's taking Bo to get over Dyson. Buffy took less time to get over Angel. Everything other than that is making me happy.

(Well, the Ash storyline is not. I suspect the original actor wanted out or couldn't do the whole season or something, because this storyline stinks.)

(Yeah, I'm really hoping that the Ash plotline is going to end with the way more fun one coming back and severely trouncing this guy. And, uhm, I can't help but notice that the white man beat out the 2 POC [even if one wasn't really competing for real] to replace the black man as the Figure of Power and Authority, and basically the first thing we saw him do to exercise his power was make sure we knew thatthe lesbian was his slave. Even if the narrative clearly wanted us to hhhaaaaaaattttteeeeeeeee him for the last.)

I give Bo a LITTLE leeway because it's only a few months now that's she's ever even thought a romantic relationship would be possible for her (even Buffy got to think that for a few years, I'm sure) and Dyson is probably the only potential romantic/sexual partner who would be willing to regularly feed her without having to worry about hurting himself. But yeah, I'm so ready for her to get past that. Though, I think/hope we'll have less of it now that she rejected/killed him in the dream?

Ugh, I hate the new Ash. And it's telling that he's the one who has the "sexy" antagonism with Bo, when the original Ash was so much hotter.

Does anyone like the new Ash? (Actually, I suspect the ones who still like Dyson do...) My only use for him is hopes that Morrigan shows up and gives him a "you are a worm" look, and that the old one comes back and thoroughly trounces him.

The old one was so much cooler! (And hotter too, yes.) And, uhm, treated people with respect and came across as deserving it even in his few douchey moments. (The main one I'm thinking of is when he sent Lauren to Bo with the implication that she should seduce Bo if necessary, but I think there were one or two other moments, though they were all his doing what he thought needed doing, instead of just liking being a jerk.)

Yeah, he was a character whose background I really wanted insight into. This new Ash is just... boring.

I have this dream where Original Ash recovers from his wounds and comes back on screen and destroys New Ash, and then there is ... something, I don't know. He talks a lot in this fantasy because wow is he ... yeah. *cough*

I used to like Dyson! I had an argument with a friend because she thought he was taking up too much of our time away from better characters in season one - which is exactly how I feel about him right now. Go away, Dyson.

Same. Well, no arguments, but I saw a couple comments and was all "I don't think it's that bad yet..." AND NOW IT IS!

uggggh nothing to contribute since I haven't even finished the first season but I'm not looking forward to disliking Dyson - especially because it sounds like the text isn't exactly giving him the treatment he deserves?
