Lost Girl 2.18: THIS SHOW WHUT!!!! I don't really knowwhat to say about this episode save that I love this show even when it's being terribly wrong and awful and threatening to go very bad places even if it stops itself in time. I am very sad, though, that Kenzi did not save Bo through the power of their sismance.
(I'm so disturbed that I don't hate or even dislike Ryan, guys. You have no idea.)
Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries 1.1-1.3: MFMM is a new Australian mystery series set in the 20s about Phyne Fisher, a rather shameless rich woman who sets herself up as a private investigator after solving a murder mystery. Like many detectives, she attracts both dead bodies and strays like flies and she's rather bulldozerlike when it comes to shoehorning her way into police investigations (The show has a clear desire that I ship her with the inspector whose toes she habitually steps on, but episode 2 implied he either is married or was in the past, and I'm not going along with that if there's a wife still in the picture. I'll go along with the sidekicks though, because they are adorable.) It's rather lightweight despite the dead bodies and some of the other plot elements, such as the apparently rather awful death and/or disappearance of Phryne's sister some years prior to the series, but's its rather delightful and has lots of Bechdel passing and adorable characters.
Once Upon A Time 1.14: Hmm...I thought this was going to be the Red Riding Hood episode, but apparently that's the next episode.
I found the fairytale backstory in this one really annoying, aside from giggling at "dwarves hatch full grown from eggs." A HATE tragic backstorieswhere the dude's angst (because it's always focused on him) is because he made decisions for both him and his significant other that completely disregarded any input from her, especially when it's usually the opposite of what she would have chosen to do with her life herself. And, as usual, it's supposedto beabout how it's tragic and noble and self-sacrificing for him and we'reexpected to completely disregard the fact that he and the plot just ignored her right to make decisions about her own life, so all I see is the complete disrespect for her and her choices. (Also, I hadenough of Amy Acker playing an awkward yet adorable child-woman in Angel.) It was nice to see Belle again, even if she was still talking about the tragic loss of her kinda creepy Stockholm love.
OTOH, despite the"WTF?" of Mary Margaret now being thetown pariah (seriously?) and Leroy taking out the generator (I hope there are consequences for that) I enjoyed the Storybook parts a lot. Only in this show would selling candles so nuns can pay their rent trump a missing persons investigation. Though, I really wish Emma's lie detector didn't seem to be malfunctioning when it comes to Sidney.
Person of Interest 1.17: Show! Your trailer promised me tons of "reclusive paranoid billionaire and angssty ex-spy/assassin-turned-vigilante with baby!" giggles and giggles AND DID NOT WARN ME ABOUT ACTUAL SERIOUS DANGER TO BABY!!!! (I feel a bit traumatized despite the TV!baby being just fine and the actual real baby naturally being in no danger...)
THIS SHOW! THE CRACK! John, your "Eeee! Baby!" voice is kind of creepy though. Don't ever say "dada" like that again, ok?
Carter's faces! Finch actually being a semi-comptetent childcare provider! (Really, though, they should have made Fusco babysit. I'm sure he's good with babies.) Really, all the babygiggles were as great as the trailer promised. The trailer just didn't warn me about bad!babynapping or babytrafficking or baby being locked in a freezing truck! (Reese, what happened to your superhuman abilities there?)
Really, though, for once I'm actually agreeing with a fandom and thinking this this probably is the best episode of the show? For once it actually was as dark and serious as it likes to think it is, but also had the character moments and lived up to the hilarity of the premise.
But! Carter dumped Reese! (Which clearly made him very sad. His hero dumped him!) Now that he doesn't get to call her all the time and pop up in her car whenever he wants, he'll probably go back to stalking her because she's so awesome that clearly all the bad guys have to be out to get her even though she doesn't need him 95% of the time. And Reese ssssttttaaaaaarrrriiiiinnnnnnnggggg as she does her thing is fun, but doesn't involve her disgusted and annoyed faces. Also, who will Finch tease now that she dumped them? (Mind you, I'm pretty sure she'll be back with them by the end ofthe season BUT STILL!)
Also, Reese, stop getting suckered in by Elias. This is becoming a bad habit!
Ringer1.16:
"DON'T PATRONIZE ME!!"Oh, Andrew, you really are the absolute last person to be saying that.
Andrew, I don't care if you killed Tyler (actually, I don't think youdid) but don't you dare do anything to Malcolm! And I must giggl at Siobahn's ployto drive Malcolm away just results in newtacticsfor him. (Siobahn, he escaped imprisonment, torture, the forcibleresurgence of a drug addiction, a road trip, Bridget/Andrew and your last flunky. A mean phone call won't do much.)
I think this episode was the first time I've actually liked Olivia. I know, given my tastes, you'd think I would adore her but she just hasn't worked for me for the most part. I'm glad they didn't weasel out of Andrew having any actual guilt with some "Well, I thought of it but decided it would be WRONG and Olivia went behind my back!" like I thought they would. I dunno...based on what I've seen of fandom outside my LJ, I suspect people probably aren't liking these developments with Andrew and trying to explain things away (the Andrew fans on my f-list aren't generally the kind of fans who like to fanwank away anything a dude does, so...) but these developments and the implied creepy/violent/ruthless bits are basically an extension of my initial impression of him? I hated him at first the liked him then realized that he was only really sweet to Bridget and Juliet when they acted the way he wanted them to and as soon as they stepped out of line for him it was all "The problem isn't me or us or the situation, the problem is all youyouyou and your behavior and your actions and your choices HDU question me?"
Basically, I am Team Siobahn forever and ever and Team Siobahn has room for Team Bridget (Because in my head, Team Siobahn and Team Bridget must ultimately join forces and triumph in the name of sociopathic deceitful identity stealing sisterly love)which I am also on forever and ever but not a lot of room for Team Andrew.
I liked getting more background for Machado and an explanation for his extreme motivation, but am not pleased that it involves a fridged pregnant girlfriend.
I missed Juliet, despite not liking her plot since the midseason break.
