I'm rewatching Revolutionary Girl Utena in preparation for a WisCon panel (I SHOULD be working on rarewomen...) and keep getting distracted by ALL THE INCEST VIBES AND TYPES OF INCEST VIBES EVER. Like, how did I forget them? (All I remembered on the incest vibes front is being creeped out by Akio/Anthy scenes. Still true.)
With 40-odd volumes of Kaori Yuki and multiple fictionalized accounts of Lucrezia Borgia (ok, Borgias in general, but I pay the most attention to her in most) you'd think I'd be immune and all "la di da" but no...
Also, needs more Juri.
(Oh, hey, 2 years after I watched the first set, netflix has decided to have the second set of Nana DVDs available...)

If you haven't yet and you like your crack, you should really read Cantarella. Like, really really. Who cares about historical accuracy, there's sould being sold to Satan, necro-mommy-almost-incest-WHAT HIGURI YOU WHAT-and epic doomed OT3.
I can't get into Gregory Maguire's writing (I find this very tragic) but what I've read of his Mirror, Mirror, a retelling of Snow White (and apparently NOT based on the German version) with Lucrezia as the stepmother. I'm also very fond of Roberta Gellis's Lucrezia mystery Lucrezia Borgia and the *subtitle I forget*, set during Lucrezia's marriage to Alfonso #2 where his mistress is killed and everyone thinks Lucrezia did it and she wants to solve the mystery not because she's worried for herself, but because she wants to find out who really did it before Cesare arrives and just chooses a killer and gets rid of anyone who objects. I've seen about 15 minutes of Borgia: *subtitle I forget but it aired about a year ago a 12 episode series that I believe is a French and German collaboration. I intend to watch more, but Netflix streaming went wonky on me and I haven't got back to it yet. (If you're watching Missing-which you should be, then girl who plays Oksana is in it, I suspect as Sancha but I'm not sure. It also has Gina McKee, playing a BAMF CIA boss, instead of the BAMF Caterina Sforza. I HOPE SHE HAS TIME TO BE IN BOTH SHOWS A LOT.)
Let my take a moment to anti-rec Los Borgias a Spanish movie from I believe 2005 that was in my netflix queue for about 2 years in the "saved" section and when it fionally became available, it was...weird but interesting then weird and creepy but interesting and then OH HELL NO when, after Sancha and Cesare had sex, he got dressed while she sat there naked in bed and when she brings up the ZOMG INCEST rumors he grabs her throat, says he'll kill her if she ever mentions it again and then puahes her down for more sex. SO SO CREEPY.
This reminds me that I need to hunt down this mystery novel I saw once about a young girl who's Rodrigo's spy.

*snort* Sounds about right. And I'm sure Lucrezia makes an excellent Nancy Drew! Thanks for these. Hopping on over to GoodReads to add them now. UNF and I do want Caterina Sforza to be around all the time. Haven't watched Missing but I've lost several shows lately(prob be losing Awake as well, and Community's not exactly on solid ground for renewal either *weeps*), so I guess there's room in my schedule to give it a try. I would definitely love to see more of this actress.
Oh, and I actually posted some Borgias icons at
