52 Week #11-12: Aside from the Ralph endcaps, Week 11 was fairly flat for me. Largely because, as much as I enjoy The Question(and that's quite a bit) Montoya has pretty much become the postergirl for the "a strong gay woman is pretty much a man with breasts" stereotype. And Batwoman...neutral, so far. all she's really done is have 1 fight scene and act the "high class girl with bad boy ex" scenario with Montoya. Black Adam's story in Week 12 was much more interesting., and I'm rather liking Adriana. However, I rather wish they weren't headed down the romance path for those two. While I don't have a problem with it, I'd rather see them as platonic mentors for each other...she for morals and purpose, he for combat skills. We'll see.
Annihilation Nova #4: Dang, sucks to be Rich Rider. Big time sucks. Without even getting back to earth. The best of the wrapups so far(despite not having quite as "oh bleep" as Silver Surfer at the end) Rich's request to Drax could have some interesting(and possibly concerning) results(especially if he makes it back to Earth and responds appropriately)
Aquaman Sword Of Atlantis #43: YAY! An inker. Not necessarily the best fit(due to a difference in art styles, not the inker...love De Zuniga) It definately helps, though. Story is moving along nicely, and ties are established to the OTHER Arthur Curry. Now if we could just track down the Dweller...
Captain America Vol 5 #20: Mercifully little Crossbones and Syn(definately not my favorites) and more Winter Soldier, of which I wholeheartedly approve. Storyline is finally reaching it's conclusionIt hasn't dragged out or anything, but it's been largely to bring Union Jack and Spitfire to our attention for theUnion Jack mini. While I like them both and will be getting the trade of said mini, I'm ready to move on.) That tail end promises for some interesting possibilities(and if I knew what that thing was, I'd likely be concerned)
Manhunter #24: I think this has become my favorite mainstream DC book(possibly excepting Shadowpact) It's likely the book most involved in DCs history and continuity, but, unlike, say, JSA, it doesn't overwhelm you with it. Plus, Kate kicks butt and her various sidekicks are fun. I don't think anyone has deserved being on the receiving end of Manhunter's wrath than Dr. Psycho, and his fate(and her method of dealing with his bad habits) was quite fitting. *shakes fist at all the fools not buying it, despite the first few issues*

Date: 2006-08-09 03:26 pm (UTC)Was reading the Neverwhere comic as singles, but when I trimmed my pull list a while back, I decided to wait for the trade(it's Gaiman, of course they'll put out a trade of it...)
