So, this started lurking at the back of my mind in the 5th trade, but I couldn't quite put my finger on what was bothering me, and I still couldn't until I was flipping through my GA books Tuesday, looking for pics for icons.
The problem is Mia's reasons for wanting to be Speedy, as explained by Winnick. Now, Mia wanting to be Speedy makes sense. Mia wants to be GA's sidekick. GA's sidekick is Speedy. Therefore, Mia wants to be Speedy. As far as I know, Donna Troy had nothing to do with Cassie wanting to be Wondergirl, and Dick didn't have anything to do with Tim or Jason being Robin.
However, it's portrayed as Mia's main reason for wanting to be Speedy specifically is Roy. And that's fine, too. Good guy, responsible enough and probably fun as a big brother guy. Except that as near as I can tell, never, not once, have we seen anything to give a foundation for that. In fact, I don't think we've ever even see them speak to each other, save generally talking while being in the same room with other people. I think the closest we've seen to any sort of relationship or direct communication between them was when Dr Light kidnapped GA, and Roy told her not to worry, he'd take care of it.
So, Mia wants to be Speedy because of Roy, but despite 50~ issues of the titles that I've read, they've never spoken of it, and the only foundation for a relationship that we've had is Ollie telling Roy that she didn't seem to be in a funk only because she was happy to see Roy(no indication of that, as all we see of Mia is Connor tucking her into bed because she's all banged up and Roy and Ollie are in another room) and Ollie telling Roy that he's the reason she wants to be Speedy(at which point she walks in, tells them she's fine, and that's that)
Anyway, just an annoyance that's been niggling at the back of my mind for a while now. I don't mind that Roy is Mia's reason for wanting to be Speedy, I just want some sort of interaction between the two tyo give us a foundation for it.
