I think I forgot to mention this, but my nephew(who, once born, shall be declared the cutest thing to ever exist) shall likely be either "Sutton" or "Jackson."  Both are nice enough names, but the kid is going to spend his life explaining that no, those aren't family names.  At least if he's "Jackson" I can call him Jack.  Had he been a she, she would have been Riley(which they could have kept, actually)

this is a warning for the next bit.  It really is about female/somewhat personal things(and some family history)  This is a "get it off my chest thing" not an "if you're my friend, you'll read it" thing, so no obligation

It's dawned on my that I'm 25, and will be 26 in a few months, and have never been to...uhm...certain kinds of doctors.  I need to look into that soon, especially as 2 of my 4 grandparents have had cancer(granted, both were "things you do to your body" kinds) 1 grandparent died of a heart attack, and the living grandparent not only had a heartattack that was best summarized as "a fluke, not health, but possily genetic" and both she and her sister had to have the same surgery due to a growth in the neck.  So...yeah.

The main thing is that this involves territory that has been literally unseen and untouched for over 20 years...While I don't know EVERYTHING that takes place after such visits, I do know that my mother is 100% "do not touch unless absolutely necessary" for a couple days on all fronts, and my father is in the recliner for most of the night(now likely in the guest room, which used to by Myles's room) for about a week.

So...yeah...

Don't wanna, but know I should.  Rather be uncomfortable for a few days and embarassed for an hour than very very sickly or, you know, dead.

My DVDs of the Gokusen dorama have arrived.  I'll likely watch the first ep, then put it on hold until I get a new DVD player( don't wanna read subtitles on the laptop...rather have a fullsized screen, but I want to check out the quality of this seller's subs)  Though...I think the regionless anime market has spoiled me...I was a bit surprised when they came in regular disc sleeves.  Though, given the price I paid for them and the fact that I don't have DVD burning stuff, or the patience to wait 40 minutes to several hours to download, it's not really a problem.  Was just a bit of a "huh?" moment(incidentally, there's also the factor that the regular computer has no speakers, and the laptop has no security program so "download and watch" isn't much of an option.)

Also...3 more hours until I can escape.  I really, really miss my midweek break.

Anyway, the manga....

Elemental Gelade Vol 1:  Looked at this after James said the anime looked interesting, and it looked fun.  And it was.  It reminds me a bit of several things...Ren reminds me of Eve in "Black Cat," the pirates remind me of the sky pirates in "Castle in the Sky,"  and the idea of the Edel Raids is a bit of a cross between the Peacemakers in "Scrapped Princess" and the armour/exoskeletons in "Escaflowne"(only not mecha...really...)  It was considerably fun, though this first volume was largely setup.  It's basically about a young sky pirate who finds a girl and learns she's the last of a line of genetically engineered weapons who can merge with humans to create an unstoppable weapon/fighter(it works better than it sounds..) and finds out that...uhm...everyone...is after her.  Anyway, considerable fun.  Will checkout the anime and get future volumes.

Death Note Vol 7:  First of all, this was as well done and interesting as previous volumes, and had some good twists.  Second of all...Light Yagami, I want to flay you alive, tie you up spread eagled in the desert and dump 5000 ants on top of you.  And videotape it, so I can rewatch.  You are a horrible evil wretched person and I shall nevereverevereverever forgive you, know matter how much I love the book or interesting your diabolical evil wretched mind is.  You don't deserve Misa's devotion, much less L's friendship or your father's faith(it's misplaced, but he's allowed, as he's your father and you spent 18 yeas being a good son)  Also, moppet replacement L?  I like, but not an acceptable replacement.  And Mello, not only have you scarred me forever in terms of eating a Hershey's bar, but I think you're the first person in this book whom I actively dislike(I'm mad at Light, yes, but he's not exactly the kind of character you have warm fuzzies for...plus, he's interesting, unlike freak-chocolate-consumption-scarring boy)  I shall now go off to a corner and cuddle the memories of my monkey boy...

Black Cat Vol 4:  Oh, you did much to alleviate the trauma of Death Note *glareglareglare*  And Eve...Ren only emphasized what an adorable moppet you are(not a slight against Ren in any way, I just already had Eve on the brain when I picked up BC)  This was a fun volume, with Rinslet(who was sorely lacking in volume 3) using food to bribe Train into going to a fancy party with her so she can steal what she thinks will be a diamond(she's a bright girl, but her research is occassionally lacking, let's leave it at that...)  and Eve sneaking in out of boredom.  Incidentally ONLY in a manga will 2 guys cause massive property damage to AVOID killing a rampaging dinosaur just because a kid asks them not to kill it(after said kid is knocked around by said dinosaur, at that...)  The first part, dealing with how Sven ended up with the special eye was also pretty good(see: Kakashi)  Also?  Train, give it up already.  You don't know it, but you're a goner.  You only think you're a free man because Rinslet is having too much fun right now to reel you in, but she knows she can at any time, and you won't complain TOO much.  Also, Eve?  Start appreciating Train already.  The dork adores you and Sven likes you better anyway(but none of those 3 like each other THAT way)  You and Train get dropped off a 50 story building, you're the one he'll save, even though you have a better chance of surviving it.

2 1/4 hours to go...

Well, I'm sure my comment will be TMI but oh well.

About the female doctor thing, I only started going at 21 because I was pregnant. Then I just kept up with it through my regular doctor, when I get my physicals. I only go to the gyn if I have a problem. I guess you're supposed to go from when you turn 18 and go once a year.

It is uncomfortable, but it's worth knowing you don't have cancer or other diseases, cysts or whatever. I'm not sure why your mom would be uncomfortable for a week..... It's usually just uncomfortable during and then after you're fine. It *is* weird when you first go. I'm sure you can look up what is going to go on so you know what to expect. Also tell them you've never been so they don't do anything to shock you lol.

Well that sounds not a million miles from "Firefly", and that show worked well enough...
