meganbmooreSo, I caught up with the scanslations of FMA up to chapter 68(which I think is around vol 16 or so)
Also, Samurai Deeper Kyo does NOT have scanslations(full scanslations, at least) so I've been piecing things together from raws and translations. I've been mostly focusing on the end stuff(I had to make sure all my loved ones were ok) and good grief...did Kyo and Yuya REALLY need any more angst...I mean, isn't him living in the body of the man who killed her brother and her life literally being used as a test for his usefulness enough? Did they REALLY need more angst(seriously, from what I've gathered...which is only a few things from 17 volumes that haven't been published here yet, they're approaching Basara levels of OTP angst) Also? While I understand it redeems himself, Kyoshiro is currently of "despised OTP interferer" status.
ETA; Dear Tokyopop. Fruits Basket is finished. Samurai Deeper Kyo is finished. Both books are popular, so how about WE START PUTTING THEM OUT A LITTLE MORE QUICKLY, HUH?????? The same goes for Viz and Hikaru no Go. Normally, though, Viz is better about that.
My Bradley Hate have increased a hundred fold. Not only did he try to make Al's insides all bloody again(STOP THREATENING THE BLOODSEAL!!!!!!!!! I want the little girl gone, but not THAT way) and he also takes Winry(figuratively) and Hawkeye(essentially literally) hostage against Ed and Roy's good behavior. Of course, Ed and Roy are taking things much worse than Hawkeye is(Winry doesn't know) But then, I maintain that Hawkeye plans to shoot him in a certain eye if he tries anything. and his kid *flashes to his anime fate* oh you poor darling little thing...you must be hidden from your evil father NOW. Y'know, anime and manga, that kid really is a dead ringer for a young Roy...and he's adopted in both(not that I really think he's Roy's kid or anything, but it's fun to point out)
Kimbley was plenty creepy in the anime, but far more so in the manga, because he comes across as almost normal. But he still needs to die a painful death at the hands of Scar for the same erasons(though not with the same outcome for Scar, please)
Major General Armstrong? Possibly the only person in the series you could convince me could be a match for Izumi(though my money would be on Izumi) Her sparklies are also scaary, unlike Armstrong's, which are cute. I'd say she, Hawkeye and Izumi need to go out and get drunk, but if anyone tried anything with those 3 around, it would result in WWAAAAAYYYY too much property damage. I'd say Winry should go along too, but, much as I love her, it'd probably give her a complex. Also, the 3 Armstrong siblings all came from polarly different gene pools...it's almost scary.
Ling's older flunkie/Ran Fan's grandfather is now on my bad list. You don't DO that. I don't care if he immediately grovelled. POO. POO. LIST. No escaping. And Ling? I maintain that he'll be back...he's obviously still in there and at least trying to be in control, but I don't know if Greed is letting him out a bit for entertainment, or if he was able to come out on his own.
Other than that, general awesomeness.

i'm really looking forward to Akari. From what I gather, think the crack version of Nuriko from Fushigi Yugi. Poor Yuya, though...she apparently finds out after inviting Akari to take a bath with her in the hot springs, not knowing the truth(the others were trying to tell her earlier, but she was too busy screaming at Kyo over learning he'd made a bet with Akari that if Akari ever managed to hit him in the face, he would marry "her") I'm sure, though, that it made her understand why people were assuring her left and right that Kyo would NEVER let Akari win the bet(Kyo is many things, but into guys is NOT one of them) I get the impression that Akari tends to actually forget that she's a he, though.
While vaguely on the subject, his sarcasm and the near-entire-cast-wide battlelust aside, how the heck did Akira end up borderline normal? I mean, he was raised by a battle obsessed killer, a crossdresser who seems to rather forget he's not really a girl, the world's biggest and least likely battlenuts softie, and a guy who's pretty much a space cadet. Though, Hotaru is more in Akira's age group...maybe the sarcasm and space cadet status is more of a defense mechanism.
And now for the sreaming...if I hadn't seen the last chapter before all this and KNOWN that Yuya and Kyo came out of things pretty much ok and together(and knowing Kyo, about 30 seconds from finding a relatively private place and working on babbies...the man has about 4 years and over 300 chapters of repressed sexual tension to get out of his system...so does she)
DIE KYOSHIRO!!!! DIEDIEDIE!!!! You...he...he...he decided Kyo wasn't good enough to protect Yuya(she was injured) and took her from Kyo, with Kyo screaming at him to give her back, and somewhere there his sword went through Kyo's gut. I mean...ok, Kyo, like all good shonen heroes, may as well be immortal...but that...it...you don't DO that. I mean, Kyo of all people screaming at him to give Yuya back to him and he doesn't even really know if she'll be able to live if she stays or goes but may never know if he doesn't give her back is just...it...I'm not sure my angst levels will survive that.
Kyoshiro? You have your own woman, so get your mitts of Kyo's. Yeah, I guess you thought you had her best interests at heart(even though Yuya's best interests=Kyo. Period.) But seriously, you are threatening my desire for you to also be ok at the end and off making babies in some secluded mountain cabin with Sakuya. But seriously, that's because I figure you might as well get a happy ending too, as opposed to any real attachment to you or Sakuya. I'm not nearly attached enough to you to forgive this without some seriously mitigating circumstances. I mean, where the *bleep* do you get off saying you're better suited to protect her from things than the guy YOU couldn't protect her from.
It's just...I'm not sure I'll survive a normally-mortally wounded Kyo screaming at Kyoshiro to give an apparently dying Yuya back to him.
And then(actually, I think leading to this) her brother comes back to life, only possessed by Nobunaga? And Nozumu breaks through Nobunaga's control to ask Kyo to kill him before Nobunaga makes him kill Yuya, and this is in FRONT of Yuya? It wasn't enough that she saw him murdered once and had to accepted that Kyo is the guy now living in the body of the man who did it, but she ALSO has to watch him die again, this time at Kyo's hands, to save her?
There was more, but I'm not sure I'd survive it without spacing it out.
And then the ending...KYO YOU IDIOT!!!!! You...that...you want her to be happy? THEN GO WITH HER!!!!! Yeah, you're big on keeping your promises and all, but can we skip the heroic sacrifice, PLEASE?!?!!?!!?!? Just...just...in over 30 volumes, exactly what made you think she could POSSIBLY be happy without you? HUH??? And then it took you three years to get back(btw, final battle in in another dimension or some such, and it takes him that long to find a way back) But...you did come back...and you came back in the place where you and Yuya met...and there's hugging...and knowing you, I know EXACTLY what you're going to be doing in about 3o seconds.
Y'know, the ONLY thing that got me through all this was a piece of fanart/doujinshi I found at thelove_deeperommunity where Kyo and Yuya are fighting after some rescue or another and the entire cast shows up and screams at them to just shut up and have sex already, to which Kyo tosses Yuya over his shoulder and heads for the nearest bedroom. I'd post it, but it's in an flocked post, which I take as "do not redistribute" But it is awesome.
