getting books and Forever Knight

meganbmooreI've picked up books 2-3 of GRRM's A Song of Ice and Fire...not sure when I'll get to them...likely soon. I've also noticed lately that I'm not tolerating as much as I used to in my reading...most of the series I've dropped or sonsidered dropping of late are actually little different from other books in the series, I just seem less willing to tolerate some things about them.
And...what is it with Borders/Waldenbooks lately? Used to, they'd get manga in the weekend before it officially came out, but lately, I've been having to wait until a week or two after the books came out to get them. I want my Death Note! I want my Vampire Knight! I want my Black Cat! I want my Skip-Beat! I want my D.Gray-Man! I want my Night of the Beasts! (even though I'm rereading Basara and have 10 or so manga waiting for me to get to them...) I only FINALLY got the new Saiyuki Reload today.
*grumbles*
In other news, 5 more eps of Charmed and my backlog will be pretty much down to movies, anime and doramas, and aside from this seasons releases, the only planned acquisitions are Stargate and s5 of Smallville, and those are for when they get good prices(and likely Highlander and Xena when they get good prices, too). That said, I noticed at Wal-Mart today that they have the first 2 seasons of Forever Knight for $20 each. Can anyone recommend this? I'm really not a big fan of vampires, but it sounds interesting. Now, for anyone who went "wait, you like Buffy and Angel and read urban fantasy," well, it took me YEARS to check out Buffy and Angel because of the vampire focus and the only reason I finally did check them out was because I caught the Pylea arc of Angel on TnT and started watching the reruns there. And the overreliance on vampires in urban fantasy drives me crazy and has chased me away from a few series. Like pretty much anything, I'm fine with vampires as a necessary and well used plot element, but not as a crutch, and I never have understood(and likely never will) the "OMG! VAMPIRES! HOT!" mindset.
All that said...opinions on Forever Knight, anyone?
