meganbmooreIn volume 2 of Blade of the Immortal, Manji, the main character of the series, and Magatsu, an Itto Ryu swordsman, did a "duel to the death" bit for ownership of Rin's(the girl Manji protects) father's sword(a duel that Magatsu WON but Manji cheated by being immortal...but that's ok, Magatsu-unintentionally or not-made Rin cry, and Manji is allowed to take any steps necessary to address that)
Now Manji? Makes Wolverine look like a wuss. And Magatsu? He may not strictly be the best swordsman of the series, but more than anyone else in it, if he wants you to go down you are going down-sometimes very literally by way of a long drop-and after events a little earlier in the series, he doesn't really care what the cost to his own well being is. Boy takes almost as much damage as Manji does and makes it through without the benefit of being a near immortal. *stops self before she degenerates into rabid Magatsu fangirling*
Anyway, the two have known the other made it through their fight for quite a while(which makes Manji saying he didn't know here kind of odd as he was told around vol 4-5...I figure he just forgot), but they don't meet again until volume 10, when both end up staying at the house of Sori, an old friend of Rin's father.
Here's what happens when they learn the other is there, and how to tame a pair of homicidal nuts about to make your house all bloody.
