meganbmooreSo, most on my flist who have a clue what Trick is(or would care) have heard me babble about it enough. The short version is that it's about a physicist, Ueda Jiro, who's absurdly booksmart but utterly devoid of street smarts and is very gullible and Yamada Naoko, a stage magician who isn't overly smart and isn't much of a magician, but is brilliant when it comes to spotting the tricks and lies as others. The mysteries are largely an excuse to spread their insanity and showcase their bizarre courtship.
In the second movie(supposedly but not definately the end of the franchise) features a young man asking Ueda to come and investigate an island near his village where he believes his childhood friend(played by Hirokita Maki, looking absurdly cute) is being held against her will. All Ueda hears is an excuse to drag Naoko off somewhere so he can display his...urm...brilliance, and off they go.
Best way to make sure the girl you like takes up your job offer? Get her fired from her current job.
And then break into her apartment(which she should be used to by now) and do weird things with food(at least he kept out of her underwear drawer this time)
When you're Ueda Jiro, you can row masny miles to an island in a raft and not get tired. You're like that.
That's right, when one of you is a giant who's published multiple books about exposing fraud, "undercover work" really doesn't exist...
Ueda learns(again) that trying to wake Naoko up for late night reconnaisance really doesn't work that well...
Maki in a box:
Like all Trick female, she starts making googly eyes at Ueda. However, since she's a sweet kid as opposed to a scheming hussyand Maki, and therefore forbidden to be evil or to die Naoko isn't bothered by it this time.
If you want an excuse to kiss a girl but don't want her to know it, set it up so that she needs rescueing then use the kiss as an excuse to pass her a razor blade with your mouth(I kid you not) You can also use it to ask her to move in with you and later claim plausible deniability.
Keep in mind, though, that she may have her own opinions about this brand of courtship:

When you're well over 6 feet tall, you should just give up on trying to hide...
