manga: Kindaichi Case Files?

Has anyone read this series?  I was interested when I heard about it a while back, but it was in the context of Tokyopop canelling the releases because of low sales or something.  Did this happen, or is it still coming out/completed?  And more importantly, is it worthwhile?

This is actually is spawned by my watching Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbo 3, starring Matsumoto Jun.  The series itself is straight mystery, and the opening credits are short and evidence-y, but the end credits are 100% fanservice.  This has made me realize that with my watching this, TW Hana Kimi and Yoshitsune back-to-back, I may have developed a bizarre fasconation with fanservice of actors/singers I'm not remotely attracted to.
