I am going to repeat what calixasaid and say it's the best wuxia* I've seen in years.  I've only been watching wuxia dramas for about a year, but ignore that part.

It's also a very very painful drama.  Instead of more pain, a few clips and a couple MVs so that you will better understand the pain.

Here, let's just start with the absolutely most painful death.  As there are no subs, what gives him his second wind about halfway through is learning his father is dead.  By the way, his wife's scarf?  Never lets go.  Still holding it when his body is returned to his family.

 

BUT WAIT!  That's just one death.  Here, how about an MV that crams most of the pain from the series into 4 1/2 minutes.
