icon trends

meganbmooreI have to wonder...everywhere I look, it seems more and more icons are having half faces...not one person's whole face and part of another, but deliberately cropped to only have part of the face...what's with that?
Like all icon trends, there are both good and bad ones(actually, I take that back...a few trends are just ugly no matter how I look at them) but I just have NO idea how the half face got to be so popular...they're all over book covers, too.
