meganbmooreThat was one of the best animes I've seen this year. I can't quite say it was THE best, as I've seen a few excellent ones this year, but a top contender.
Normal sized(and one oversized) men with swords chopping giant(but for once, cool) mecha into ityy bitty pieces is my kind of mecha.

1. Favorite character: Kyuzo. Sadly underused in large chunks of the anime. Then again, his kind of character is better that way. Anyone else think he was rather like a wolf guarding its prey when it came to Kambei?

2. Second favorite: Kikuchiyo. I saw a comment from someone that he was barely in the anime and underused. Whaaaaaaat? Guy stole every scene he was in and only seemed to have a little les screen time than Kambei or Katsuhiro. Youtube has no Kikuchiyo-centric videos that I like.
3. Third favorite: Kambei. I swear, he has angsted himself into being asexual. I considered cheating and making him my favorite because A) he lives, and B) the amazing emo-ness when Kirara tried to confess her love. I mean...seriously...cutting a girl off and telling her your heart is withered and dead and she should save her water/love for someone who deserved it? I was too busy being impressed by that to get a proper quote...Most Kambei vids tend to be Kambei/Kyuzo and...nah. Actually most Samurai Seven vids seem to be Kyuzo(highly approve) or Katuhiro(like him a good bit, but...why?)
4. I remain impressed by the amazing level of faith here. Actually, as her other option was Ukyo...
If you must know what's being said, it goes roughly: "STOP! You can't go any further! Return to our icky lord who wihed to use you as a sex toy." *rather obvious actiony rescue scene* "Didn't I tell you that my deep, deep angst and bitterness make me unsuitable to be your hero?" "Yes, but my unrequitted love sense tells me that you are THE ONE who will save us all."
5. Accidentally getting shot by the kid that idolizes you? Made me go:

Sucky way to go when you were planningto go out in a life or death battle with Kambei...
6. I feel Gorobe died way too early. Also, is it just me, or did he have somne kind of blood fetish?
7. It occurs to me that it sucks to be any main character in this except Rikichi and Shochiroji. If you're one of those 2, then eventually you get to settle down with the woman you love. If you aren't, then you get to wallow in unrequitted love for the rest of your life, angst yourself into eternal solitude, or die.
8. Speaking of which. had Shochiroji gotten the "die and hallucinate about the girl I promised to go back to, I would have been highly dipleased.
9. I shall hopefully scour fanfiction.net tomorrow for Kyuzo/Vash crosover fics. If there are none, I shall be EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. That's the kind of crosover fic I might read. Any decent one would end with Kyuzo deciding to fight Vash to the death because he' so hard to kill.
