Son of Fury: Adventure? Yes. Swashbuckler? NO!

And now we have the Unjustly Persecuted son of a nobleman, made a servant by his Super Duper Extra Evil Uncle.  Often Shirtless Lad(Tyrone Power) makes the boo-boo of falling in love with an arristocrat, Rich Girl, and when Super Duper Extra Evil Uncle(who has Unjustly Persecuted Often Shirtless Lad and stolen the family lands and fortune from him) finds out, he whips Often Shirtless Lad, and Often Shirtless Lad sets off to make his fortune so he can come back and kick Super Duper Extra Evil Uncle out, and jumps ship with a shipmate to go to an island supposedly flooded in giant pearls, where he meets and falls in love with Scantily Clad Island Girl.

After much frolicing and pearl finding with Scantily Clad Island Girl, he decides he must go home to take care of Super Duper Extra Evil Uncle, and sadly bids farewell to Scantily Clad Island Girl.  Back in England, he reunities with Rich Girl, gets betrayed a few times, ousts Super Duper Extra Evil Uncle, and, after learning Rich Girl also betrayed him, realizes that island girls who speak little english and don't wear much are better because they don't have corsets affecting proper air flow to the brain, and abandons all for True Love.

Ehm...fun movie, really.  I was(obviously) very amused by the many excuses to rip Tyrone Powers shirt off, or to have him going around shirtles, and surprisingly unbothered by his two-timey-ness.  He takes up with Scantily Clad Island Girl when he thinks he'll be there for life, and only reunites with Rich Girl because he promised to come back for her and thinks he'll never be able to go back to the island.

BUT!

STILL NO SWASHBUCKLING!

A good, fun adventure movie, and a couple good bouts of fisticuffs, but no swashbuckling.

For a set billed as being swashbuckler, this has been appallingly light on the swashing and buckling.  I wish to have words with whoever put the set together.

One more in the set...will I finally get a swashbuckler, or must I wait for my copy of POTC3 to get here(hopefully tomorrow) for a new-to-me swashbuckler?
