I have to say...I'm kinda just sitting here, waiting for the Super Duper Extra Important Vol 29 to be in my hands...I'm trying to remind myself that everything between now and then isn't just filler. Because, you know, it isn't...
-Dear translator: Go back to elementary school, thank you. I can tolerably live with things in an official publication that you have been paid to put out and supposedly ran by an editor to find all the errors in when it's something my brain will automatically correct, like "of" instead of "off." I can grit my teeth and bear it when you call a character named Bontenmaru "Ban" because it's still very clear who you mean. However, when you have an Akira and an Akari and you start mixing the names up, I draw the line. Especially when they are in the same scene, and most especially when Akira is talking about Akari but saying "Akira." I may make more typos than should be allowed, but at least I don't get paid for them.
-That said, please tell me this is an accurate translation, I beg of you: "Prepare yourself, you sorry excuse for Kyo. I'll pay you back for mimicking the master warrior. You see, the power of the real Kyo is nothing like your unworthy impression. And I shall carve that lesson into your impudent body."
-But really, it's nice to see Akira possibly starting to take a few steps beyond his extreme brother complex, isn't it? Now to get him past the "crush on brother's girlfriend" part...(except...uhm...I'm spoiled...and don't really like how that turns out...really, the only thing I don't like, but I guess it's ok...)
-One must love tough love, SDK style. Especially when it's your quasi-romantic rival(over a girl who likes another guy altogether...) who always acts like an idiot delivering the tough love by way of a spear butt to the back of the head.
-How does Hotaru switch from space cadet to deep and analytical to space cadet in seconds? No really, HOW? And then he gives cute and occassionally evil little girls his toys. *squishes*
-No matter how hard I try, I can never really take Santera and Antera seriously. I just can't. I can Sasuke, and always have, but not them. it's easier when they're just being cute little girls, though.
-I do not want to be Bontenmaru when Akari, Hotaru and Akira catch up with him. At all. I hope Yuya and Sasuke sensibly go stand by Kyo and Yukimura when that happens.
-Speaking of Bon, someone just kill his opponent off quickly. Thank you.
-Poor Yuya with the Nozomu thing. And here she was finally over forgetting her brain anytime he came up. (Quick question:crumpeteeris reading the series now and is on vol 5 and keeps getting irritated over Yuya's stupidly running off. We just had the "Yuya run's into the forest after Akira and then asks Kyo if he killed Nozomu" bit...I'm thinking that's one of the last bits of stupidity, as one of the appealing aspects of the character is that she does have a brain and figures out to stay out of the way fairly fast, but I'm trying to remember.)
-I realize I'm likely in the very vast minority here(probably a minority of one) but I really don't care much for Yukimura getting a supernatural ability. A large part of the appeal of the character for me is that he's a guy with no supernatural abilities, just a brain and enormous skill, that manages to hold his own against and be on a par with virtual gods. Giving him a power is almost like saying he's not cool enough to play with the others if he doesn't have one. I do admire his priorities( raiding the sake stash) when invading the enemy. I'm sure everyone but Yuya and Sasuke approves. Well, Mahiro would probably object, too, if she were around and Benitora got drunk.
