Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle Vol 12

THE RACE IS OVER! YAY! I’ve read longer and duller arcs than that, but that was seriously trying. It did, however, finally give Sakura something constructive to do, on her own, without being cast as the fainty damsel in distress like she always has in the past. (Yes, unlike most, she really does have a good reason for fainting all the time, but I can only handle so much of that.) While the only really interesting parts were the guest stars of Shugo and the Clamp School Detectives characters, it was nice for her to finally get to DO something, and it was nice to see Fai and Kurogane’s typical roles be reversed, with Fai knowing that Kurogane would only get medical attention if he were dragged there..

The parts at the end with Kurogane and Tomoyo were interesting, though. I have to wonder if Princess Tomoyo’s whole "you need to go off and learn to not to kill everything in sight" bit was really just her sending him along to protect the others…not to mention think for them, as they oh-so-desperately need someone to do that. Plus, he’s the only one with the self-awareness and observational skills to notice that things are up. Plus, he’s the only one capable of staying sober.

Though, between Doctor Kyle’s comments about stumbling over the original versions of a person, and Kurogane’s comment that if Fai thinks Sayoran and Sakura have changed, then Fai has too, I Must Wonder. Especially about which Sayoran is the real one. (All I have to say is that I’ve been following this Sayoran the whole time, so I’ll be hard pressed not to side with him in any battle of Sayorans…)

Also, I am now trying to remember if we see Yuuko wearing that dress Sakura gave her, but I can't remember if we do or not.  I seem to remember her wearing a big black dress in one of the more recent volumes, but can't remember if it was that one.  Unless someone remembers, I believe I now must investigate when I get home(which will be tomorrow...)
