Loot round-up, part 4
Aug. 11th, 2006 05:57 pmIt is, I think, about time for a little trimming of the list. It's a sad, sad thing. But better in the long run.
Blue Beetle #5: I don't know why this one isn't clicking for me. I like Giffen and I like Jaime and the story is interesting(and, while I'm not big on it, I don't hate the art) but the book just isn't clicking for me. I think it's a "lets make it as far from the last Blue Beetle as we can" thing. Maybe I'll get the trades if they come out.
Crisis Aftermath The Spectre #3: This mini was a series of ups and downs for me. It was better than it seemed in the beginning, but I think it got a little bit lost in exploring the higher concept. STill, at least it managed to avoid complete predictability, which it seemed to have atthe beginning.
Mighty Marvel Western: Western Legends: Not the best of these one shots, but good. The Hurricane and Red Wolf stories were quite fun. The middle one was good, too, but seemed largely there to be stuck in between...I think it would have been better with a few more pages. Still, hoping these one shots(and maybe a mini about the REAL Rawhide Kid) continue.
Supergirl #8: Sigh...it seems that, the more interesting the story gets, the less I actually like this book. Which is sad, as I rather liked hte first few issues...then started liking it less and less the more we had of the "Dark Supergirl" stuff. Must wrangle detailed spoilers out of Marc in the future so I'll know what happens.
Witchblade #100: Sigh. Ian got off easy...As much as I like MOST of Marz's run, I hated the watering down of Ian(actually, he pretty much created a similar but much lighter character who I liked, but who wasn't Ian) and destruction of Jake, all for the sake of Jake 2.0(aka, Patrick), who I liked initially but am liking less and less as more interesting characters are being sacrificed for his sake(thouhg it's not nearly to the degree of, say, Lana Lang) A good issue, despite that(and I feel considerably more comfortable about Adriana Melo taking over the art now) but I would like to know exactly HOW Sara got herself pregnant. It's established in this issue that there's been none of that with Jake 2.0(thank goodness) and she sent Ian off to his own bed(blast it!) and there haven't exactly been any OTHER opportunities...I think the last possibility was Det. Lee way back around #50, and they never managed to even have a date...hrm...(wonders if those midi-whats-its-from Star wars are involved...)
