anime: InuYasha + Get Backers

Just watched the Japanese Season 4 of Inu Yasha(eps 55-72) and...yeah... it's definately getting into the problem that most long running animes have, which is that after a while it turns all filler, esp. while it waits for the manga to get ahead, and since the MANGA tends to have a lot of filler...yeah.  Still, I adore most of the characters(particularly Shesshomaru, Koga, Sango and Miroku...and when it comes to Inu Yasha shipping, I live for the Sango/Miroku ship) and it's always fun...except when the filler eps are about Shippo, who frankly, serves no purpose and is more annoying than anything else.  I mean, if they want a filler ep about a cute kid, then they have a perfectly good Rin right there...and she's far cuter than Shippo and actually serves a purpose, as opposed to stealing screen time for no good reason.  And seriously, I'm nuts about Sango/Miroku, and the random scene with them is enough to make me happy...ditto for anything with Koga or Sesshomaru.

Also, I randomly put in an ep. of Get Backers, and EEEEE!!! It's the ep. where Shido shows up! Ban! Shido! Kazuki! Shido/Madoka!  *shamelessly fangirls* *watches entire story*

Think I'll look for the hospital ep(Juubei vs Doctors! Nurse Kazuki!(what he gets for that wardrobe) Akabane and flowers! Ban vs Shido for love letters!) and Shido trying to get to Madoka's concert(guuuuuuuh!) and Natsumi cosplaying as a Get Backer(just pure fun, and it makes me want to ship Natsumi/Emishi)

Also, I stumbled across this Shido/Madoka manga vid on youtube, and it makes me want to read the manga very, very badly.

Basara Vol 2

This post is huge-a little over 60 pages-because one of the important things about the series is that Shuri, the hero, is actually perfectly primed to turn into the villain of the series, and the only thing that keeps him from walking that path is his love for Sarasa, and  some of this volume emphasizes how carefully he's treading that line, and how close he is to crossing it.  As Yumi Tamura points out in one of her notes, if you think he's a nice guy underneath, you're naive.  As we see in this volume, he hasn't been allowed to be nice since birth.  He is, however, a good-if ruthless and ambitious-man at his core, and the bit of that that's been able to survive is what falls in love with Sarasa. I also find the relationship behind Ageha and Shido fascinating(in part because of of Ageha's later relationship with Shido's fiance, Senju) so there's a fair bit of that.

ETA: EEEE!!! Liar Game ep 2 raws are out!  *squees over preview pic and DLs in hopes the ep will also get softsubs*
