Tear the world apart to get your brother's real body back. Hug your baby brother into a pancake. Say you don't care if the entire world ends if your baby sister is safe. Circumvent the assassins your father keeps sending to kill your brother. Dramatically confess your brotherly devotion as only a true prima donna could. Sleep with your mother to keep her from abuing your brother. Vow to rip anyone who touches your sibling into shreds. In the world of anime and manga, thi is considered to be normal sibling behavior.

Make any and all cases in comments(both for these options and those who aren't listed) if you think someone should be here but isn't, tell me and maybe they'll join in on a later round.

Every once in a while, those siblings will make you do a double take and say "Wait a sec...did they just..."

So, I figure thi will either be completely ignored(in which case, we'll just forget it ever happened, ok?) or it will own me for the next few weeks.  All the following applies to the latter option.

1.  The poll is simple: among each pair of options, who has the bigger sibling complex?  The only organization beyond category was trying to make sure no 2 characters from the same series ended up against each other.

2.  I'm too lazy to put up a comprehensive character/complex description, but most  competitors can be found in the comments here.  If you don't know them and don't see them there,  just ask and I(or maybe someone else who sees it before I do) will answer.

3.  I'll probably keep each round open for 2 days.  For the first round, I'm still taking submissions(and I'm already aware of at least 1 that I stupidly left out...)  Just comment in that poll.  However:

A)  Provide CANON evidence of a complex.
B)  Blood relationships or together since birth only.  If I include step and adopted siblings acquired in childhood or teen years, it will be never ending.  I have to draw the line somewhere...

4.  Nope, no straight up incest category, sorry.  For one thing, it's often more in the nature of a taboo relationship than an actual complex, and it would also be rather never ending.  That said, if anyone wants to do one, there's plenty of fodder for it in the post above.  (Yeah, that's why Anthy and Akio are the only Revolutionary Girl Utena siblings to not make an appearance)

A couple examples of what I mean and exceptions to the rules(cases like these are allowed):

1)  I included the Casull siblings because they've been raised with Pacifica as their sister  since she was a few days old.  If it weren't for everyone else in the world trying to kill her, all three would probably completely forget they weren't related to blood.  In their relationship, not being blood related is completely irrelevant.

2)  I included Hakkai despite the nature of his relationship with Kanon being incestuous because the actually complex comes from her death, not the relationship itself.  From all appearances, if you remove the fact that the relationship itself was taboo, they seemed to actually have a fairly normal relationship.  His complex comes not from the relationship itself, but from how Kanon died, and what he did and became to try to save her.

Round one(of hopefully several) posts:

Sibling Rivalry taken to new levels.

Devotion to and obsession with corpses.

What passes as a healthy complex in the world of anime and manga.

Complexes that make you do a double take.

GO VOTE!

1.  Today is the first day of the Adult Literacy Council Booksale.  Hopefully it will go better than last year.  Those who were here last year may recall that the workers were kinda rude and looked down on the book shoppers, the location was inaccessible, and you couldn't get to most of the books.  It' at a different place this year, though, so maybe it'll be better.

2.  I can't recall if there are any on the f-list who read it, but the Aria manga that was dicontinued(in licensing) a few years back is being rereleased by Tokyopop as Aqua.

3.  Speaking of manga, I flipped through all 5 volumes of Basilisk while I was out.  I can't help but think if they'd had more down-to-earth fighting and focused more on the "lovers leading rival ninja clans forced to fight each other" aspect instead of making it OTT borderline porn fighting all the time, it could have been pretty good.  The core story I like(I did read the firt volume or two when it first came out)  it's jut the actual approach and execution...still, at least the movie(which was renamed Shinobi) was much better...it still had the OTT fighting, but not the borderline porn.

4.  Speaking of "enemies as lovers,"  I stumbled actoss this list at Amazon.  Basically a list of fantasy novels with that theme.  Some sound promising, and I know there are a few others who like that theme, when it's done well.

5.  I have started watching Smallville Season 5 and have already had to squelch 3 "why oh why is Lana on my screen...just kill her already" posts...

6.  I saw Twilight at Hastings.  I thought those were only ebooks.  I kind of stared in horror and fled(after making sure it was the same Twilight.)  I mean...seriously...I'll check all kinds of things out, but...vampires who can't go out in the sun because the sun makes them sparkle?  SPARKLE?????  Yeesh...

ETA:  Aqua is apparently the prequel to Aria, making this the second series (that I know of) where originally only the sequel was published in the US but Tokyopop is going back and putting out the two series in order.  I approve of this trend.  (The first series was Peacemaker)

Urm...originally I was just going to post a bunch of Manji and Rin covers, then I just kinda kept uploading a bunch of other things.    I have an odd obsession with Manji/Rin pics.  Not in a shippy way, I just like them.  Probably the "big tough scarred guy and teeny cute little(teenaged) girl" thing...

Anyway, I bring you Blade of the Immortal picspam.

I want you all to know that my internet went out 3 times making this...
