While gathering Saiyuki pics, it has dawned on me that Goku wants and needs a hug.  Bigtime.

Just look at this:

No idea who to blame this on, though.

But I do blame this on the existance of fandom itself.

So, here's an interesting case of bigamy for you.  The goddess Benten decides to send a man the perfect wife, and so sh sends him the woman that's perfect for him, they falling in love, and get married.  Later, he's given an offer of marriage he can't refuse, so he goes to meet the woman he's supposed to marry, and...it's his wife.  Only not really.  Because Benten created his to make sure he'd love the real one before setting it up so they could get married.  So he committed bigamy by marrying the real woman his artificial construct wife was made of.

Aside from that, most of what was left was little bits of folklore that was interesting, but little to point out.  Except that there are apparently vampire cats.  I am very disappointed that I have never encountered these in my reading and viewing.

As a point of irritation:  Minamoto no Raiko reappears in the story of Kintaro(one of his chief vassals) but his real name, Yorimitsu, and there's no mention that it's the same man.  At least he wasn't called a "doughty knight" again.

Any, lotsa fun material in this, though you have to put up with the author flipflopping between things like "knight" and "samurai."

So, apparently, it's been a while since I read a "normal" (visually) shojo manga...I was reading this and staring at the sparkles andthe feathers and the sparkly feathers and the giant saucer eyes and going "whaaaaa...?"

But forget that.  This volume was mostly about Akito, one of my most utterly despised manga characters ever, and it was a volume designed to make us start sympathizing with Akito.  It rather has the opposite affect on me.
