Hem.  As much as I enjoyed large chunks of this, I have to say that Korean melodramas still aren't my thing.  I'm not sure how much of my enjoyment was the right mood or the right kinks getting hit just right, and how much was it actually being good.  Though I admit that I did rather get a kick out of the extreme melodrama parts when they were zipping by with the aid of  my thumb's bonding with Mr. FF Button.

I did still like it, though, and as far as romantic melodrama goes, it was good.

Also, you will find that I have many easily catered to kinks and weaknesses, wear them on my sleeves, and they're easy to exploit.  People do so regularly.  "Swords" and "crack" often being the easiest to exploit.  Also "badass characters" and certain canon pairing types.

Megan's extremely basic thoughts on the first 2 eps of Gundam Wing

1.  I think this Relena girl is a robot.

2.  They'll put any kind of anime or manga character in high school, no matter how illogical it is, won't they?

3.  People weren't kidding about the crazy or the suucide attempts, were they?

4.  What kind of person chews out a guy for saving her from a crazy guy about to shoot her?

5.  This Duo lad(as kingcrankycat assures me that I'm right pegging him as Duo) seems abnormally cheerful and upbeat...and sane.  Well, for this show, at least.

6.  Somebody fish the facedown crazy boy out of the water please.  Thank you.

7.  No really, i think she's a robot.  I won't believe otherwise unless I see blood.  Not a fountain, just a teeny bit of red stuff as proof. 

ETA:  I will make a post that makes sense to those who do not know what Gundam is later, either at work or before bed.

For the rest:  I am rather fond of Duo chewing Heero out over suicide attempts, and am curious about the analytical seeming guy with lethal bangs. 

ETA 2:  Duo is talking about how he doesn't know how much more of emo antisocial suicide boy he can handle.  I think I love him.  poor lad has a whole 47 eps and a movie/ova of it to go. 

ETA 3:  Is Relena seriously standing on a cliff, yelling for Heero to come and kill her?  Since she's a robot(in my world) perhaps she has a programming malfunction that misunderstood "I'll kill you" for "wanna go out?"

And I will be very, very surprised if Duo isn't my favorite.  Even if I can already tell that Duo/Heero is THE big yaoi pairing for the series.  I shall console myself with thinking of their reactions to learning that info, as I always do in such cases.

Gundam Wing, eps 1-4

Gundam Wing is a part of the super duper extra massive Gundam franchise.  I know little about the franchise as a whole except the it has 100 or so series, and it'a all mecha.

Now, to be blunt:  I don't like mecha.  I think it's ugly.  It holds no appeal to me.  I do not understand why it's massively popular.  The only mecha I have ever liked is the mecha in Samurai Seven, where the mecha exists to get chopped up by men with swords.  Outside of that, I occassionally tolerate the mecha as a necessary evil in something I otherise enjoy.

The general plot of Gundam Wing is as follows: 200~ years in the future.  Space colonies are being repressed by Earth, and as a rebellion, they send 5 teenaged boys with mecha to take out the evil government and fight the evil mecha with their superior mecha.

Clearly, I was not sold on this for the plot.

No.  I was sold because I was promised clinically insane, suicidal, emo angstmuffin badass pilots who like to try to blow themselves and other people up.

I am tempted to click to see if it's as bad as I fear.

How can the inherent wrondness and no-touchy of that not be automatically realized?  I think it's on the adult/child(as in 8-12 yr old child variety, not the "ok, they're a minor, but a teen" kind) level of wrong...or 'in love with your rapist" wrong(which is actually coser to true...identical kind of wrong, at least)

I am actually tempted to see if it's as bad as I think it is...but don't hate myself enough/have the courage to do so.
