This morning (technically now yesterday morning) I went to get my haircut.  Either I have amazingly healthy hair, or I can't spot BS when it comes to my hair, because hairdressers always go on at length about how healthy my hair is (excepting when they're the kind who hack of 6~ inches unevenly when I go in for a trim, and then say that's what I asked them to do) even if they're lecturing me about how I tend to go too long between haircuts at times.  This one was walking about how most girls with hair as long as mine tend to not brush it much and she could tell I did because there were barely any tangles, and ehat there were were small enough to be missed by a brush.

Uhm, I was horrified enough by the idea of not keeping it brushed.

And then she said that they also had girl with long hair come in who had gum in their hair and didn't care and I...what...what?  I'm sorry, but if I got something stuck in my hair and couldn't get it out, I'd be at ProCuts the next second it was open, begging them to tell me anything they knew of that I could do to GET IT OUT.  And if that next second wasn't immediately, I'd be wailing here.

Err...she also apparently thought I was around 20 or 21, because she asked how long I'd been growing my hair out and almost dropped her clip when i told her it was since I was 18, until I told her I'm 28.

But seriously!  Leaving gum in your hair!  What?

Mind you, due to my not really being fond of being touched* and the fact that people I barely know tend to just TOUCH MY HAIR WITHOUT ASKING, I might be more sensitive on this issue than others.

*One of the benefits on posting on ADD a lot the last 5~ months is people going "Oh!  I thought that was just a problem I had, not something other people with ADD have." a good bit.  Touching seems to be one of the big ones, as does an exception for small children and other little cute things.

Reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland if Wonderland got ahold of every quest trope ever and cheerfully turned it on its head, Un Lun Dun is about UnLondon (hence the name) a world where buses fly, people can live their entire lives without once touching the ground, and giraffes walk through the streets.

Zanna and Deeba are best friends in London, and have started to notice strange occurrences that seem to be directed towards Zanna, such as clouds with her face on them. While Deeba is curious about these things, Zanna tries to pretend they aren’t happening, until one day the girls turn a wheel, and find themselves in UnLondon, where Zanna is supposed to be the “Shwazzy,” the destined hero who is going to save UnLondon from the Smog. (UnLondon is nothing if not environmentally conscious, but not annoyingly so.) Zanna is still quite sensibly reluctant about all of this, but Deeba is interested, until she learns that her place in the prophecy is to be the sidekick added for a bit of color. Or maybe just because a sidekick was needed.  Regardless, she is, in the prophecy, barely a footnote.

Now, I expect fanservice in US comics.  I've long since accepted that it isn't going anywhere anytime soon.  And, you know, sometimes they actually go for equal opportunity fanservice.  Then there are things like this:

Enough has been said about the trend of being "artistic" by cutting off a woman's head and focusing on her body, particularly her butt.  But this goes beyond the norm, making her breasts, stomach and crotch the forefront of the picture, with the full figures (Heads included!) of three men behind her, and another further in the background.  But that isn't even what really bothers me.  What bothers me is that, last I checked, Supergirl is a teenager, and the cropping makes it look like the men are checking her out.  Green Arrow in particular looks like he's checking out her butt.  And you know, I don't know who captain Marvel and The Atom currently are, but Green Arrow is 40-something, and I think Green Lantern is in the same age range.  And somehow, I don't care to associate with something that advertises itself by having men look like they're ogling a teenager less than half their ages.  And I'm sure it's a crop and the full image gives a different impression, but the crop is what DC is floating around.
